Bronzeville Winery is a collective gathering place focused not only on

the Food & Beverage Experience, but also on community impact through inclusivity. The winery is celebration of Bronzeville, a storied history refined by modern revitalization that has put the neighborhood in the spotlight. Led by Eric Williams, founder and owner of The Silver Room, an independent retail and community art space in Chicago and Cecilia Cuff, a leader in the hospitality industry and founder of The Nascent Group, the Bronzeville winery pairs a carefully curated wine list with a diverse and global, modern menu, inspired by the international cuisines coexisting vibrantly in Chicago.

Located at 51st Street and Martin Luther King Drive, Policy Kings is a revolutionary, black owned, urban chic, mixed-use commercial and residential development, being created by two Chicago natives: Corey Gilkey (owner of Leaders1354, one of the founding creatives behind Boxville, and owner of Friistyle) and renowned social impact real estate developer James Daughrity, owner of Daughrity Real Estate. Policy Kings transforms an entire block into an elevated and exciting, art-forward experience, by combining architectural innovation with environmentalism, cultural elevation diversity and effortless cool. The project will include eco-sustainable apartments, indoor and outdoor dining, an elevated gym, Chicago’s first elevated women’s sneaker boutique, Queenz, and a brand new extension of Chicago’s favorite local streetwear brand, Leaders 1354. Policy Kings strives to create an innovative mixed use space that is by the community, for the community – one that will not only open up doors and create stability and opportunity for all the collaborators, entrepreneurs and partners involved, but which will inspire further entrepreneurship and support the revitalization of the block.

In addition to the courtyard, the project will be complete with a Nigerian restaurant (inspired by the success of Nwazota’s previous location Little Unicoco) an event space, outdoor performance spaces, and a retail shop. Okpara House’s will offer year round events and performances, elevated catered dinners, art showcases and large scale academic conferences. The mission of Okpara House is to create a deep sense of rootedness and connection, by harnessing the powers of design, dialogue, and academic research as transformative agents to stimulate, reactivate, elevate, and reimagine black culture.

Community Initiatives

Cecilia Cuff has worked within the Parse family since 2006 going on to open her own art residency and mentorships pace for underrepresented voices in 2016. Parse strives to provide an inclusive sanctuary for the expression and amplification of minority and marginalized voices. Using methods of learning and therapy through art, PARSE SECO is a space boasting public art that sets trends, questions narrative and viewpoints and nourishes the artistic youth by emphasizing the importance of creative expression seemingly neglected by the standard educational model. While PARSE SECO is in a constant flux of creative change, the one thing that remains constant is the dedication to increase representation of minority voices in the art world and the importance of mentorship through art.

The Nascent Group was contracted to indefinitely curate New Mexico’s first interactive outdoor art space. Arroyo Seco Live’s Seco Live Space initiative provides nomadic pop up retail and instructional opportunities for artistic entrepreneurs and community activators alike. They are integrated into the community infrastructure and have the potential to range from commercial services to civic community-based resources. The transformative space uses art to drive commerce into small businesses in the area by creating interactive art installations that generate statewide drive in traffic. As a public space, it is, by careful design, accessible to the entire community at all times using engagement with nature, art and open space as an emulsifier. Using public art as a common thread, the space provides a visual mechanism for understanding each other’s cultures and perspectives while reinforcing social connectivity with others.
